         IST LINK CHANGE/ More details

A long hyped...and expensive...$70 million...high speed undersea fiber optic cable from Caracas has apparently been activated.
But...Cubans say its traffic only seems to be flowing one way...into the Isla Grande.
Also...Cubans can now get 13 hours of Venezuelan TV programming...and Chavista propaganda daily on Telesur.
The cable laying project...called Alba 1...was finally completed in 2011...after years of delays...but has only become a reality this month.
For decades...Cuba has had to rely on slow and expensive satellite connections.
Cuban officials have not yet commented on their cable operations.
