Tennis champion and Austin resident Andy Roddick announced his retirement...after the US Open ends.
Roddick, 30, had a screaming 140 mph serve and is the last American to win a 'grand slam' singles title.
In 2003...at 21...Roddick ranked number one.
He will quit to devote time to his family, play with his dog and supervise a sports and learning center for youths...run by his foundation in East Austin.
