In a huge loss to movies and humor...Oscar nominated screenwriter, essayist and proud New Yorker...Nora Ephron...has died...at 71...from leukemia.
Ephron scripted 2 giant USA romantic comedy hits...both nominated for Oscars...'When Sally Met Harry' in 1989...and 'Sleepless in Seattle' in 1993.
Her drama 'Silkwood' was also Oscar nominated.
Her last of many films...was 2009's "Julia and Julia'...starring Meryl Streep.
A one-time tabloid journalist...Ephron wrote essays for many newspapers and magazines...before transitioning into novels and films.
She wrote with heart and insight...but most of all with a light touch...that always seemed to muffle a chuckle.
The remembrances are now coming fast and furious.
But if fictional comic British TV character 'Ali G'...could salute the enormous comedic contributions of Nora Ephron...he would simply proclaim...'Respect!'
