ECUADOR : 9 March UPDATE: Indigena Protest Chinese Copper Mine; Prez. Correa's Brother May Challenge For Job.

      Several hundred indigena have begun marching 435 miles from El Pangui in the Amazon to Quito...protesting a proposed Chinese open pit copper mine.
     They claim it will pollute water and force them off their ancient lands.

    A years long spat may spawn a new political party...and presidential challenger as...Fabricio Correa, 52, filed paperwork for a new party.
     He told CNN that his aim is to defeat his younger brother...popular populist President Rafael Correa, 48...in 2013.
    "There is no legal security. There is too much corruption. Today, drugs are rampant. Crime has doubled. There is no investment. There are no jobs. The number of poor people has increased 50%," Fabricio Correa told CNN en Español.
