ANALYSIS/ OPINION/ T. PADGETT
Two aged autocrats...Pope Benedict 16 and Fidel Castro...met for the first and probably last time...in La Habana.
Castro, 85/86...looked surprisingly frail...even compared to Pope Benedict, 84.
It was reported they discussed Catholic liturgy, world affairs and the 50-year long USA embargo...in a 30 minute private audience...but NOT political freedom in Cuba...on Benedict's last day on the communist island.
Earlier...the Pope celebrated a mass in the massive Plaza de la Revolucion...to a crowd the Vatican estimated at 300,000...but Wash Post reporter Nick Miroff described...as 'somewhat thin'...and heavily populated by workers given the day off and bussed in.
