Leading dissident Laura Pollan, 63, died Friday and was quietly honored in La Habana after a brief illness.
The former school teacher founded and led a group called 'the Ladies in White' since 2003...who often suffered emotional, economic and even physical abuse...from officials and pro-Castro mobs.
Every Sunday, the Ladies dressed in white...carried a single flower...and marched down a major street in La Habana demanding freedom for their loved ones.
The group was awarded the 2005 Sakharov award for human rights from the European Parliament.
