HUNGARY: $647 Million Fine Levied For Oct. Toxic Sludge Disaster.

      A fine of...E472mn/$647mn for environmental damage.
      That is the cost assessed on aluminum producer MAL for the toxic red sludge that covered 3 towns, killed 10 and injured more than 150 with chemical burns...after its 10 hectare/25 acre reservoir broke on 4 October.
       It made more than 300 families homeless.
      The government had previously estimated clean-up/reconstruction costs at E115mn/$158mn.
      The company can appeal.
