AUSTIN, TEXAS: American TV Health/Fitness Guru Jack LaLanne Dead...At 96.

LATIMES/

Apparently, daily exercise and eating a healthy diet do work.
American fitness guru Jack LaLanne has passed away... at the age of 96.
LaLanne began a daily exercise TV show in 1959 that influenced millions long after opening America's first fitness club in 1936. He also invented exercise equipment still used today including leg extensions and cable-pulley systems.
    LaLanne certainly changed my life.
My mother was addicted to his TV program...and so my family became converts-- whether we liked it or not.
From those days forward, we weren't allowed to eat french fries, white bread or drink sodas; only jello or fresh fruit for dessert and forced to consume a daily gloppy concoction of carrots --with pulp-- and orange juice that I often dumped into the toilet.
Thanks, Jack. No, I really mean it!
