POLAND: Women Leaving For Abortions.
REUTERS/ With the most restrictive abortion laws in the EU, many women in Catholic Church dominated Poland are travelling out of country to terminate pregnancies. Officially only several hundred abortions are performed there every year, but pro-choice advocates say about 150,000 abortions are performed yearly. "Of this number, some 10-15 percent of abortions are performed abroad and this number is definitely growing," says family planning official Wanda Nowicka.
