VENEZUELA: Chavez Raises Army Pay 40%.

REUTERS/     Seeking to shore-up strength among his military, President Hugo Chavez raised pay for the armed forces by 40% to counter  an estimated 25% inflation rate and ahead of legislative elections. All ranks are eligible for the increases.
