ARGENTINA: Former Military President Sentenced To 25 Year Prison Term.
MERCOPRESS/ Argentina's former military president, Reynaldo Benito Bignone, 82, already under house arrest, was sentenced by a tribunal to 25 years in prison, one of the longest terms for an official from "dirty war" era. Six other officials were also sentenced for running a concentration camp from 1976-1978. The court ruled that despite their advanced ages — most are in their 80s — the convicted will serve their sentences in prison, not house arrest.
