Boeing may lose a $7.5 billion jet fighter sale unless the U.S. Senate ends a delay confirming Thomas Shannon as Brasil's ambassador. Florida Republican Senator George LeMieux has blocked a vote on career diplomat Shannon’s nomination for four months. The delay could help France’s Dassault beat Boeing in the competition to sell Brasil 36 warplanes. "It’s an insult to Brasil to tell them they’re not important enough to have an ambassador like so-called advanced countries but that we want them to buy our planes over the French,” said a former U.S. diplomat.
