I just bought a dozen large eggs at a Central Texas Walgreens...for $.79.
Unbelievable! I haven't seen that price for years.
However, at Walgreen's you MUST check the carton sell-by date...and the eggs themselves. I've bought extremely thin-shelled eggs at Walgreens before...with suspiciously hard yolks. No bargain if you end up throwing them all away...like I did.
Also, for many weeks, my local giant supermarket chain H-E-B, has been selling really good, large eggs for $.99. Not long ago, those eggs were selling for $1.45 per dozen.
Even Target had to join the $.99 per carton egg parade...down from $1.45!
What's going on here with egg prices? Has deflation...so dreaded by many economists...finally arrived?
