2 Carmen del Playa city police have been charged with raping an Italian woman on 12 February.
After leaving a nightclub in the early morning...3 police reportedly demanded a $235 bribe from the woman and her Italian male companion...who were caught urinating in an alley.
When they couldn't pay the bribe...the cops allegedly sexually assaulted the woman, a resident of the beach town south of Cancun.
A 3rd officer implicated in the assault has fled the area.
Carmen del Playa is popular with Europeans...and boasts about its safety and heavy police presence.
