New President Enrique Pena Nieto announced he will create a 10,000 member national police force...based on Spain's Guardia Civil...to combat serious crime and narco mafiosos.
The national police would gradually replace the heavy use of troops employed by former President Calderon...but no time frame was given for deployment.
In the recent past...a 40,000 member national police force had been proposed by some politicians.
Pena Nieto also says he will budget $8.8 billion for crime prevention.
