     German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Athens today...for the first time since 2007.

     More than 7,000 police were there to protect her during the 6 hour visit...as an estimated 50,000 angry...but mostly peaceful...citizens showed up to protest.
    Violent bottle and rock throwing protesters were met with tear gas.
    About 50 people were arrested.

      PM Antonis Samaras must still cut 11.5 bn euros/$14.5 billion from Greece's budget.

      Greece is now in its 5th year of recession...with unemployment over 25%...while even more austerity measures are demanded by Merkel and the ECB.
