Prolific author Carlos Fuentes...Mexico's most celebrated novelist...died at age 83...in a DF hospital...where he was being treated for a heart problems.
With more than 30 books...it was Fuentes' novel about post-revolution Mexico...'The Death Artemio Cruz'...that got the most international attention...and another..."The Old Gringo"...that was made into a 1989 movie starring Gregory Peck and Jane Fonda.
Though touted often for a Nobel Prize...Fuentes...a moderate leftist...never won it.
