Brand new Defense Minister Daniel Mora stepped in it...when he commented on the radio that he favored a blanket amnesty for security forces accused of human rights violations committed while fighting the Shining Path rebels...calling them isolated excesses.
"There has to be a cut-off point for the reconciliation of the country," he said.
Critics quickly pounced on his statement and some called for his resignation.
