Most of the 33 miners rescued 12 months ago while the world watched...after 69 days deep underground in a copper mine...have struggled over finances and the physical or psychological effects of the ordeal.
Seven are on sick leave...with 15 jobless and asking for early retirement.
Five hawk food in the streets...and just one has struck paydirt.
Most are suing the mine owners and the government for a total of $27m...but those outcomes won't be resolved for years.
Plus...240 other miners lost their jobs...when the mine was shut down.
A doctor suggests that “unfulfilled promises” had added to the stress on the men as assurances from authorities that they would be found other work failed to materialise.
“There were many promises that seem to have been blown away or washed down the mine,” he said.
