Conservative Mauricio Macri (above) and fierce CFK critic won re-election as mayor of Buenos Aires...with 64% of the vote...over Sen. Daniel Filmus, the handpicked candidate of President Cristina Fernandez Kirchner.
With 2.4m voters, B.A. is nearly 9% of Argentina's voting population.
Macri's victory is the second blow to Fernandez's party...after it suffered a recent embarrassing showing in Santa Fe's governorship.
Still, a June poll shows CFK with the support of about 50% of all voters...as the economy surged ahead for the 9th straight year...and is predicted to grow by 6.3%...with unemployment down to 7.4% from 8.3% y/y.
