For the first time, Poland's Foreign Ministry has sent the Vatican a note accusing a priest of "harming the image of Poland abroad".
The Rev. Tadeusz Rydzyk, once accused of fomenting anti-Semitism through his ultra- conservative, Catholic radio station Radio Maryja, made the comments at the European Parliament last week.
He called the country a totalitarian state that "hasn't been ruled by Poles since 1939" — which some say is code for saying Jews are running the country.
