MEP Jose Bove, a militant French environmentalist, is warning Poland about possible dangers from its many new shale gas explorations there.
"We know that in Polish villages where there is a large population density, where people get their water mostly from wells, there are tens of thousands of rural Polish families who will be affected and who will be driven away from their homes due to shale gas exploration," Bove told AFP.
Environmental groups claim chemicals used in so-called "fracking"/hydraulic fracturing...where water is pumped at high pressure underground to free gas from the rock...produces gasses that can contaminate ground water.
