Chile's Supreme Court reduced the prison sentences of 4 Mapuche indigena convicted in the attempted murder of public prosecutor Mario Elgueta...from 25 years...to 3-4 years.
But the Mapuches plan to appeal the verdict to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
All four have been on a hunger strike for more than 80 days protesting legal proceedings that included components of anti-terrorist laws the state had promised not to apply.
However...the four will still spend 8 -14 years in prison... because the supreme court didn’t overturn a sentence for robbery.
