The Chamber of Deputies has postponed a vote on controversial changes to ease a law on Amazon forest protection.
First enacted in 1936 and amended in 1965, the Forest Code requires 80% of Amazon landholding's remain forest, 20% in other areas.
Agricultural interests say the law impedes development and that the world must open more land for food production.
Small farmers say that it unfairly discriminates against them, preventing them from growing more and climbing out of poverty.
