MercoPress reports that representatives for Argentina and Brasil have finally agreed on ground rules for a ‘constructive dialogue’ over their trade disputes.
Trade skirmishes between the two biggest Mercosur members commercial bloc have been frequent.
But Brasil recently applied new non-tariff barriers to Argentine auto imports.
In 2010, Argentina's auto industry exported about $7 billion in autos and auto-parts to Brasil.
The measure affects other countries including the USA, Japan, South Korea and Mexico.
There are about 10 different areas where bilateral trade faces "problems" from olive oil to powdered milk.
Yet a Brasilian official told Reuters the measure was retaliation for recent delays in Argentina on imports of farm equipment and other goods.
