State-owned Banco do Brasil and Banco da Amazonia are being sued for allegedly funding Amazon deforestation.
Prosecutors allege that the banks lent money to companies that illegally cleared the rainforest and employed near slavery labor practices.
Banco do Brasil, the nation's biggest bank, denies the allegations. Banco da Amazonia had no comment.
