Despite the recent spectre of serious problems from Japan's nuclear plants, Chile has quietly signed a long-awaited nuke accord with the U.S.
Chile has emphasized that the deal is about training nuclear engineers and not building reactors.
But its senate president wanted the accord abandoned and some environmentalists also strongly object to it.
President Obama was scheduled to sign the agreement on his visit to Chile...but instead it was signed behind closed doors... by FM Alfredo Moreno (pictured) and US ambassador Alejandro Wolff.
