Gena, the African crocodile at the Dnipropetrovsk Oceanarium, refuses to eat after swallowing a Nokia mobile phone dropped by a woman trying to photograph him last month.
Rimma Golovko said she stretched out her arm to take a photo of Gena opening his mouth and dropped her phone in the water. "This should have been a very dramatic shot, but things didn't work out." She doesn't care about the phone - but wants her SIM card back because of the info on it.
The situation is much worse for the croc which has not eaten or had a bowel movement in four weeks and appears listless, depressed and in pain. "The animal is not feeling well," an employee said. "His behavior has changed, he moves very little and swims much less than he used to."
Possible surgery would be dangerous for the croc - and the vets.
