No real surprizes here as the isla's santeria priests annual New Year's forecast predicts 2011, the year of Oggun, will be a year of change and "reorganization," with growing economic openness but also the threat of war and coups d'etat.
"We are sure that there will be changes" in 2011, said top priest Lazaro Cuesta. "We're certain that good moments are coming."
In 2010, the same kind of predictions were made but few happened.
But in the past year, Raul Castro has begun many small reforms to lessen Cubans' economic dependence including the sacking of 500,000 state workers and a limited re-opening of private enterprise.
