As 500,000 Cubans dread or suffer sackings from government jobs, it appears that won't the case with security employees. In fact, the number of workers there may increase.
Experts say the government so far has not indicated it will reduce its domestic Ministry of Interior (MININT) and national security ministry, Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR.)
``They are set on maintaining the repression at a very high level,''said dissident Vladimiro Roca.
A defector's 1994 book estimated MININT's workforce at 100,000 in a population of 12 million people.
