A newspaper reports that the FARC rebel group controls the output of 15 gold mines in northern Bolivar province that nets them $850,000 usd yearly.
The mines owner is listed as "Pastor Alape." He replaced FARC leader "Mono Jojoy," who was slain in September.
Colombian forces attacked a guerrilla encampment near the border with Ecuador, killing 14 rebels close to the town of Ipiales in southeastern Narino province.
