BRASIL: Dispute Over $400 Million Bahia Emerald's Ownership Continues.
AP/ By THOMAS WATKINS / An expensive legal battle is brewing over an enormous emerald found in Brasil's jungles 10 years ago and valued at more than $400 million. Californian Anthony Thomas claims he was the 840-pound gem's first buyer, wiring $60,000 to its owners but he was told the money never arrived. Instead, he said he was tricked into believing it had been stolen so it could be sold to someone else for more money.
