PARAGUAY: 4 Germans Arrested On Illegal Arms Charges.
LAHT/ Police report that 4 Germans and 2 Paraguayans were arrested and a dozen weapons were seized in separate operations in Cordillera and Paraguari provinces, located east of Asuncion. The Germans detained are George Thomas Waldleitner, 49, Hans Jurgen Schmidt, 54, Erika Kleimann de Trabhardt, 64, and her husband, William Jurgen Trabhardt, 64. The suspects reportedly had 13 assault rifles, a 9 mm pistol and 5,000 rounds of ammunition in their possession. Paraguay is currently involved in a fight against a small band of rebels in the northern part of the country. Also in the late spring, the luxurious ranch of a German couple was invaded. They were murdered and their bodies found dumped in a well. (BBC foto of generic weapons cache)
