NICARAGUA: Reality TV Show Takes Over Beach Town.
LATIMES/ Tracy Wilkinson/ Under the cloak of extreme secrecy, the cast and crew of the long-running, immensely popular CBS television show "Survivor" have virtually taken over the 18,000 pop. southern beach town of San Juan del Sur, known for surfing and summer homes. Despite the long-term advantage for tourism, there has been short term pain for the local fishermen and surfers. Surfer Carlos Siezar complained that three of the best beaches for catching waves had been blocked. "We can't do our thing," he said, "and it's been like that for nearly seven months."
