CUBA: Severe Drought Still Punishing Habana And Sancti Spiritu Provinces.
LAHT/ The province of Sancti Spiritus and the Habana metro – with more than 2 million inhabitants – are suffering from a severe drought, with water reserves amounting to less than 25% of capacity. Because of the water shortage, more than 29,000 residents of neighborhoods in eastern Havana are currently receiving potable water from tankers. The drought began in November 2008 and intensified in 2009 --the fourth-driest year in Cuba... since 1900.
