5 Aug / A march of 100,000 protestors in Potosi turned violent yesterday as local leaders including Governor Felix Gonzalez were assaulted by mobs. Gonzalez escaped attack with the help of neighbors. Tourists from France, Spain, Canada and U.S. have been stranded in Potosi by protest roadblocks since last weekend. “The way is completely closed, they don’t even let the police drive around and ambulances can do so just barely,” reported Col Mario Hinojosa. The protestors are demanding solutions to a boundary dispute with the neighboring province of Oruro and other issues.
