ARGENTINA: Peso On Biggest Losing Streak Since 2002 As Central Bank Buys Dollars.

BLOOMBERG/       The peso is falling for the eighth straight month, declining 0.2% to 3.9493 per dollar in August, its longest swoon since January 2002. The reason is that central bank is buying dollars to weaken it by adding foreign reserves at the fastest rate since 2007, hoping to make companies more competitive. But weakening the currency could increase inflation, which is close to the highest in Latin America.
