BLOOMBERG/ Hotels in Cancun and especially Acapulco predict the number of spring breakers will drop 30% this year after increased reports of bloodshed. “The economic crisis is still hurting us a little bit, and we’ve been affected by so much news about violence in Mexico" said a spokesperson. Tourism is Mexico's third-biggest source of dollars after oil and remittances and is projected to fall for the second year. An estimate is that violence may cut GDP growth by 1%. The State Department reported at least 77 homicides of U.S. citizens in Mexico last year.
