NYTIMES/ British authorities are warning Mexico that handheld devices called the GT 200s used there to search for drugs and explosives may be ineffective. Mexico recently purchased more $10 million worth of the devices from the British manufacturer. Critics decribe them as nothing but divining rods. Human Rights Watch claims the GT 200 “performs worse than a roll of the dice.” The hand-held wand supposedly detects narcotics and explosives by tracking molecules even from a distance.
