GEORGIA: A Fake Russian Invasion Was Televised, Terrorizing The Nation.
GLOBAL VOICES ONLINE/ On Saturday 13 March, during the usual prime news hour, the Imedi TV network, previously considered the nation's most trusted broadcaster, aired a fake report about Russian tanks invading Georgia and the death of its president. During the 30 minute program, many living close to the conflict reportedly fled into the forest to escape Russian troops, while others called for emergency help, stormed grocery stores, ATMs and gas stations. A few even suffered heart attacks.
