ROMANIA: Unions Warn "Fat Tax" May Cost Jobs.

AP/GOOGLE NEWS/   Romania enacts Europe's first fast-food tax on March 1st because half of its 22 million people are overweight. But trade unions and the food industry there warn that the new levy on fatty, salty and sugary foods could increase food prices by 20% and cause layoffs. Others criticize exemptions for pizzas, kebabs and other high-fat dishes, calling it a "McFat tax" instead —  that targets only Western fast food outlets — and will not help the public lose weight.
