COLOMBIA: A Wide-Open Race For The Presidency Begins.
COLOMBIA REPORTS/ Former Uribe defense minister Juan Manuel Santos is favored for president after Alvaro Uribe was blocked from running for a third term. Santos is connected to the U.S.-backed security policies that made Uribe so popular. Economists predict the unexpected political transition may cause a short-term weakness in the currency and debt markets.
