In an updated survey, Romania has edged out Russia as the top country of origin for migrant sex workers in the EU. In 2006 the top countries were Russia, Ukraine and Romania. But in 2008 the top three were Romania, Russia and Bulgaria. The new survey reports that Central and Eastern Europe, including the Baltic and Balkan countries, account for around 70% of migrant sex workers in the 27-nation EU.
