The lead investigator in the December slaying in Durango of El Monte, California educator Roberto "Bobby" Salcedo died after a two-week long coma. Manuel Acosta, 42, was ambushed on January 15 as he returned to his Mexico City office from a crime scene. Authorities refused to speculate on whether Acosta's killing was related to Salcedo's.
