Conservative billionaire businessman Sebastian Pinera won by about 4% over Eduardo Frei in the presidential run-off election, sending the stock market there higher, including LAN Airlines which are part of Pinera's holdings. Popular outgoing leftist president Michelle Bachelet was unable to transfer her 75% approval rating to Frei, whom voters saw as a retread.
