VENEZUELA: Police Death Squads Come Under International Scrutiny.

"Never, not even in the days of the guerrilla war in Venezuela, have there been so many killings by the security forces," said activist Pablo Hernández. "In the past two years, there have been seven massacres in Lara."
"There are active police death squads in more than half of Venezuela's 24 states and "extra-judicial execution" is widespread. More than 7,000 people were killed by uniformed members of the security forces between 2000 and 2007.
