CUBA: Widespread Torture In Prisons Alleged.

MIAMI HERALD/
Inmates in a high-security prison allege that Cuban guards punish infractions with beatings and handcuffings in painful positions. Complaints were sent to the Cuban Democratic Directorate as human rights activists in Cuba and abroad prepared for a visit, now postponed, by a U.N. investigator on torture. The Cuban government denies it tortures or abuses inmates.
