CHILE: Ex-President Frei Murdered in 1982.

NYTIMES/
Former President Eduardo Frei Montalva was assassinated in 1982 and it was covered up by people close to Gen. Augusto Pinochet. Six people were charged in the case. Frei was a critic of Pinochet's military dictatorship.
Previously septic shock after a hernia surgery was blamed for Frei's death but a new autopsy by University of Chile pathologists found two chemicals in his body - one from mustard gas and another found in rat poison. "He was injected with toxic substances, which produced other complications that deteriorated his immune system," said Judge Alejandro Madrid. "That was the cause of death."
