NYTIMES/
For wannabe marathon and semi-marathon plodders like myself as well as the young and fleet afoot, the NYTimes reports on Christopher McDougall's new book that argues “the sense of distance running being crazy is something new to late-20th-century America. It’s only recently that running has become associated with pain and injury.” McDougall argues that running isn’t inherently risky. Rather that the promotion of marathons causes overzealous training, while high-tech shoes lead to poor running form and a rash of injuries and why evolution has favored long-distance running by humans and not by animals.
