The European Bank For Reconstruction and Development helped Soviet-bloc eastern European economies move into the free-market era. Now it is again working to stabilize these economies. 2009 has been a busy year for the bank as it seeks financing to combat the global crisis in a region with many debts denominated in other currencies.
